Mechanisms of Alzheimer’s Disease Based on Single Cell Sequencing (06/2020-Present)

Mentor: Xinhe Huang (Associate Professor)

• Aim: To obtain potential network regulation mechanisms of the development of Alzheimer’s disease, data in different tissues from AlzData, a dataset providing single cell expression, were mined to find mitochondria-related differential expression genes by using bioinformatics methods
• Duties:
  • Collected normalized datasets from AlzData to find potential mitochondria-related new differential expressed genes of Alzheimer’s disease by R Programming Language
  • Performed enrichment analysis by R Programming Language and protein-protein interaction network analysis on the genes to obtain the possible network regulatory mechanisms
  • Built yeast cell models of the new Alzheimer’s pathway by gene knockout and validated the found network regulatory mechanisms

Copper and Magnesium Ion Double-doped Nano-hydroxyapatite (Nano-HA) Composite Chitosan Hydrogels for Skin Repair (06/2019-11/2020)

First Prize Winner in China Undergraduate Life Sciences Contests and in Sichuan “Life Star” Technological Invitational Tournament

Position: First Main Student Researcher

Mentor: Jie Weng (Professor)

• Aim: To give HA bacteriostasis and ability to promote wound healing by double-doping copper and magnesium ions and enhanced its degradability at nano-scale for skin repair
• Duties:
  • Synthesized copper and magnesium ion double-doped nano-HA powders using co-precipitation method
  • Characterized the nano-HA powder by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to analyze the effect of the type and amount of the doped ions on the micro-morphological structure of nano-HA
  • Verified bacteriostasis of different samples using E.coli and S.au through liquid co-culture
  • Verified cytotoxicity of different samples utilizing osteoblasts
